Imagine Image Contest
Home Entries Archive Rules About

Intention

The purpose of this contest is to provide participants and viewers with a learning experience and a fun time. Similarly to the Imagine Mailing List it is meant to be another means of tips, tricks, help and ideas. It is not really about winning, although we do have a first prize for each contest round.

All Imagine users, independant of experience level, are very welcome to participate. The newest user may have a design technique that would benefit the cunniest expert. And the cunny experts and professionals are quite welcome to join in and share their knowledge with the rest of us.

In short; experiment, learn, and have fun!

General

  • The contest is open to all. Anyone may participate.
  • Your image should reflect your interpretation of the contest theme.
  • All entered pictures must be rendered with Imagine.
  • Images may be post-processed using paint programs or image editors after rendering as long as the image composition is not altered.
Example: You may add lensflares and motionblur, but not add objects or characters except for text information such as your name.
  • Objects may be modelled using other software, such as Organica.
  • You may use objects and brushmaps downloaded from the internet or purchased commercially, but it is not encouraged. If you use such objects or images, you must make this known with proper acknowledgments in the text-file accompanying your submission.
  • You may not violate copyrights of any sort.

Entries

  • Only one entry per person per contest round is allowed.
  • All submitted pictures shall be in JPEG format with a file size of less than 100 kB.
    Do NOT use progressive JPEG.
Note: Image resolution may be chosen freely. So entering, for example, a letterbox format picture is quite alright. Although we recommend using 800x600 or smaller.
  • Entries shall be submitted through email according to the instructions on the entry page.
  • Submitted entries will be acknowledged with an email within 3 days. If you do not recieve any acknowledgement you must assume that your submission was not recieved.
  • Entries must be submitted by the deadline. Entries received after the deadline will not be accepted.

  • Voting will be performed by email.
  • Anyone may vote, but only once.
  • Contest participants should not to vote for their own picture. It is not forbidden, but it is concidered bad form.
Nor should participants encourage friends, family or others to vote for their picture.
  • The voter has to decide for him/herself the basis for his/her vote.
  • The voter must decide on the three pictures he/she likes the best and vote for first, second and third place.
  • Pictures will be given 3 points for every first place vote, 2 points for every second place and 1 point for every third place vote.
  • All ties will be just that; ties.
  • Comments about the pictures are quite welcome and will be forwarded to the respective artist.

Winning

When the winning picture has been decided through public vote, it will be announced by email to the winner and the Imagine Mailing List and on this website.
First prize is a t-shirt printed with the winning entry, kindly sponsored to this contest by Impulse, Inc.
