I use many objects which have subgroups (faces) - and I allocate different textures to different subgroups in the object. This results in straight lines (the boundary edges between subgroups) between different textures. I use all sorts of textures - imagine, essence, RJJ, AAtextures, etc.
Is there a texture that will operate on all other textures and essentially make the boundary between the textures into a wiggly line (e.g. via a random noise function), rather than a straight edge? I don't need a 'smooth merge' from one texture to another, but definitely need a discontinuous change. Typically the boundary is between rock and snow, grass and water, etc. Email me privately if you like Chris Barker

There is a set of blend textures which you can use to use brushmaps or other textures or even effects of other textures like bumps, be used to blend them out and into eachother...
Might that be what you are looking for?

I'm not sure what blend textures you're referring to - can you be more specific?
By the way, each subgroup of faces (e.g. for grass, rock, ice, etc.) has several (up to 6-8) textures applied to get the effect. I'll need a blend to work on all of them

Im refering to Ingvar Lybing textures for blending which are available here at the downloads section or from the source at 3D display, Ingvars homepage.
Ifyou look at Ingvars page, you can see somenice transitions there and an explanation on how it works IIRC.
