Long time since I touched an Amiga... sad but true...
The IFA version of Imagine, which I think it is you are refering to, is maintained by another site http://www.imaginefa.com/
They have a contact page but I have no idea what the response time might be, sorry.
Other users might be more enlighted :)

What IFA version you are running? Have You worked with a previous IFA version (from 2.9 to 4.0)?

My apologies for the typo (Image instead of Imagine). Not using the Amiga version. Was wondering if there is any advantage over the PC version and if it will run w/ an emulator.

Hi, Ferocious3,

I still occassionally use Imagine For Amiga V5 using WinUAE on my PC. Generally use it if I need a texture that isn't available for the PC- in which case I render it in IFA and brushmap it in Windows. Or, if I need to use one of IIUtilities (Stars being particularly useful) or I need to use one of the various Arexx Macro's SubGroup2Object being particularly useful. (Macro functionality would be a god-send in IFW.)

IFA does run well under WinUAE with the AIAB (Amiga In A Box) package providing things like NewIcons, etc, etc.

Functionally, v5 is still the pretty horrible 'Amiga' interface, but being under emulation it is still pretty fast. As for functionality, it lacks some of the StageFX available with IFW. The IFA version of Shredder is particularly unstable- crashing about 50% of the time I've used it in the Detail Editor. (Annoyingly, it seems to work OK in Stage Editor- go figure.)

In general, you probably won't need IFA- but it's occasionally useful. So, if you do have it, then it's probably worth having set up ready for if you do need it.

All the best,

Kevin.

Talking of horrible interfaces, someone made a front end for at least some version(s) of IFA that replaces some of the requesters and also lets you adjust the task priority, either to make it run faster if you're not doing anything else (Just be careful about setting it so high the OS stops reading the keyboard or mouse...) or to make it run slower if you need more processor time for something else.

*looks up stuff*

Okay, it's called IRJ (Imagine Requester Jester) and is found on Aminet. Versions that work with 3, 4 & 5 are available.

And talking of stuff that works with IFA, there is also ISL (Imagine Staging Language), which is basically a compiler/decompiler for staging files.
