Blog : the Gallery, part 2
Posted by webmaster on 2009/4/13 13:14:21 (2165 reads)

Well, I found the error with the gallery...

It's still not up to spec and I would like to recode a lot of the module to use the new php5 features instead of deprecated method form php4 and earlier :)

But at least you can watch pictures again.

If you click a thumbnail and no image comes up, but a link to the "larger" image, then you can, if it yours, reupload it, to fix the problem, (I think) or just send me a pointer to it...
the important part being the pid=??? number in the "link"

Another problem with the gallery is that the text under the picture doesn't get formatted, so if the uploader writes a long paragraph it gets displayed as a long line and you get a very wide page.

One of my pictures (pid 749) has a different problem: No thumbnail. May have something to do with my use of an odd character (ö) in the file name.

Well, I was working with the gallery that day and first couldnt get it to work at all, and then later had that part fixed with the problems you still see.

Ins a slightly newer version of the software and it seems not to have upgraded well from the old version

In fact at some points, as you specified, its pretty horrific, thats why I am considering other software... Now, I think one could help that problem by just uploading the pictures again after removing them, but I am not sure.

The namething fixed, it was a character set issue, the database moved ok but it seems the filename and db have different charactersset after the move so all the "special" chars went wrong... not to many of those though...

I am working the problem at my spare time btw.

Okay, color me confused. The last news post says we shouldn't upload pictures, then this one (half an hour later according to the timestamp) says we can reupload old pics if necessary. All this was a couple of days ago anyway.
I just tried putting a new pic in one of the theme albums and it didn't work. Said something about checking if the server accepts uploads.
Don't know if it has something to do with the file being a PNG. I noticed all the recent uploads are JPGs.
Well, can't get more done tonight so I'm calling it a day. Good night.
