Ampersand Valley WIP
Just showing off what I've been tinkering with of late (and will continue tinkering with for a while).

Kind of silly really. I have been thinking about making some more locations for my comic, and a while ago I got the idea that when I have characters (cast) who are characters (letters and numbers), and even some props based on glyphs, why not try to make a setting based on punctuation?
So far the result of this brain storming has been Ampersand Valley, where (for no reason I have figured out yet) a road of varying width comes out of a tunnel up in the hillside and snakes down to the valley bottom in a way that makes it look like an & sign (or ampersand as those in the know call it) from above. There it flares out and ends.
So it turns a lot and doesn't even go anywhere. Must be one of those scenic route things.

The terrain was done mostly by drawing a height map in Gimp and appliqueing it to a big plane. This left the high end of the road hanging in midair, so I used different tools to push up a little hill for the tunnel to disappear into. Then I had to make a hole in the hill manually because the slicer wouldn't work.

Things left to do: Texture the road and put some kind of pillars under the raised part, work some more on the tunnel and texture that too.

And finally come up with a plot to use the set for!
