This is for Frank, who is having problems with neon signs.

I was going to suggest using a light panel array with lightball, but decided to make it more simple

Here's my test. Took a half hr maybe.
Created a path, shape to desired shape. Create disc. Extrude along path.
Using IFW 2.0 set full brightness and fog to 1 with ABfakely to control colour falloff and transparancy. A little ABboost helped a touch too.

Now, create an axis. Place it at the end of the neon tube, and size it to approx falloff of the light from the neon light.
Set to light, cast shadows, soft shadows, no lens-flare, purple colour and intensity to about 100. Copy and paste the lights along the path of the neon tube at regular intervals and group them together

There you have your neon tune. Not too hard. Here's my version with a screenshot of the light axes etc
