The Calm Before The Storm.
Gordo watched the large red giant sinking over the horizon, in a sea of dark purple clouds, as Eagle 17’s beak floated serenely on its emergency floatation bags. Named “Beowulf”, E17 gurgled and hissed, bobbing gently on this new water world as it slipped ever deeper into the salty brine.
Raytraced on IFW2.1.9 using all my own models. Single primary light source for shadow, with a fill light to soften the shadows from the default black. Sea is a flat plain with a crinkle texture and some dripdrop texturing to suggest movement, no refraction set as the reflections looked nice as is.

Very nice, sure like your style and I used to love Space 1999 (called Månbas Alfa in Sweden) back in the days. Revisited it when it was reprised on TV4 Science Fiction before and had lots of laughs :D But I still liked it :D

Thanks. Love the Swedish title for Gerry Andersons Space 1999. I’m a big fan of film special effects work and a lot of the top names came from Gerry Anderson shows. “Thunderbirds” is still my favourite for its wall-to-wall effects and explosions!
As for early computer FX work, the hanger full of Gunstars in “The Last Starfighter” was the pinnacle back when you needed a Cray X-MP supercomputer!

Ah, 'The Last StarFighter', I remember watching that at the movies

"Greetings, Starfighter. You have been recruited by the Star League to defend the Frontier against Xur and the Ko-dan Armada."

About the same time as Battlestar Galactica in Sensurround, Flash Gordon, He-Man and Buck Rogers

Ah the Gunstar, an elegant Ron Cobb design which may have influenced the team at Foundation Imaging when they designed B5's Starfury!
