horns for V4
Although I dont post here often anymore, I still use Imagine as my main modeler. I made these horns in about 10 minutes in imagine, then it took about an hour to fit and create morphs.

Bill

Thank you :D
The only things that keep me from using Imagine for more than modeling and texture generation are:
1 lack of support for wavefront/uv mapping
2 lack of microdisplacement when rendering
3 a marketplace (which itself depends on standardization of scale/file tree organization )
4 ability to use more than one core

UV mapping would be nice. I have Photoshop Extended and I really like their implementation of UV mapping and especially how you can dupe/alter layers to get any effect you want. Pshop exports in several well supported formats (DAE/Collada included)but I still use Imagine a lot, especially now that I'm doing comics so much. Multi core would be great, especially with the algorithmic textures since layering them can produce neat surfaces, but they slow the renderer to a crawl. Imagine's triangle IOB object format translates to OBJ very nicely, and I used to sell objects thru Viewpoint in the 90s. My models are now something I hang onto, especially with 3D printing exploding all over the world.

Hi Bill, Just saw this pic and wanted to say good job. I know you said you made the horns in imagine, but what did you render in? Is that a Poser render? I model almost exclusively in Imagine. I still like to render in it but I can only stand using trace with better AA set to 0, the jaggies kill me. If it wasn't such a pain to retexture everything I'd render in Carrara more often.

It is a poser render. Firefy (the poser render engine) is getting better every update, and eventually may equal Imagine when they get things like particles and Volumetric objects. In general, Poser is like a super powered stage editor, which is why there is an active market for prebuilt items

Hey Bill
Nice horns.. I make/sell content in Second Life and just thought if a person can create mesh objects in Imagine and use Blender or something to convert to ".dae" to upload to 2nd Life. Blender drives me crazy. Have you tried this or know anyone who has?

I'm sure Bill has way more experience converting things over, but I have used AT3D (accutrans 3d)to convert imagine objects to .obj and import them into Carrara 3d. I know Carrara will export out to .dae but I have never done it. DAZ Studio may even do it and it's free to download, but I don't like that program... Maybe that helps a little good luck

I think Googles Sketchup delivers .dae files
Have you looked at that?

Very simple to work with, not so organic but very nice for other stuff.
