01 - Welcome to The Watering Hole
The web comic Suburban Jungle (or, to give its full title, The Suburban Jungle Starring Tiffany Tiger) started running at www.suburbanjungle.com in February 1999, and it took little more than a month before the main characters started establishing the bar known as The Watering Hole as their main hangout. The place soon became known as a furry version of Cheers, a place "where everyone knows your scent".
Like many fictive places, the bar has gone through many changes over the years, and some of the guest artists attracted to the strip started asking for some kind of official version to base their own visions on. In August 2002, the strip's creator, John Robey aka The Gneech, released a simple floor plan, starting a forum thread that was to grow longer than most had anticipated.
What happened was that after a bit of talk about what could be done with this plan, I decided to use it as a base for a 3D version of the bar, constructed in Imagine of course. I also decided to make it a public project with frequent illustrated reports of my progress. The result can be viewed at this address:

Later on, after the project had been gathering dust for a while, the strip changed forums, and I decided to revive the project starting with a rerun of the old thread and then continue with new stuff. The new thread (starting with old pictures but new comments) can be found here:

Unless you're new to this place and started here, you should already have seen another picture from The Watering Hole in the "Doors" album. I'm not going to republish all the small pictures from the forums here, but you will get to see some of the bigger works that turned up on the way, including this new one that I made tonight to serve as a kind of title page for the album. (I set up the camera so the text on the sign would be legible, but in case it doesn't work for you, it says "The Watering Hole. No predation allowed.")
